Transparency is Good for Our Health

Transparency is Good for Our Health

Transparency is an asset to have in conversations where the intention is to create positive relations; and it also contributes to the good health of those involved.  In my book, Soul Talk With Cells, I discuss this; and although transparency can be used in many different ways, applying it to ourselves has the most benefit.

The definition of transparency is “to see through” and more specifically “to allow the truth to be seen and known,” and because we may not be aware of our own truth at a given moment, we have the option to investigate for clarity.  As we all know, early in life we put together a repertoire of behaviors and beliefs to effectively navigate daily living; and later on, most of us encounter the opportunity to examine those viewpoints by either events that suddenly bring disruption to our beliefs, or by subtle circumstances that make continuation of old perspectives difficult.  In either case, the need to clarify our thinking occurs.

During such times, the fastest road to clarity is forgiveness of self and others in order to open to new thinking, especially forgiving ourselves. A second choice is to look closely at mistakes in order to learn and decide differently; but this takes courage, as does accepting and sharing new discoveries and feelings about them.  And yet, it is the honest, authentic sharing of new realizations that energizes relations and dissolves the separation that we think we have from each other.

Learning from each other is a key component of transparency in practice; and the presumed separation we have from each other is relinquished as we allow our authentic self to be known; and it is this inner gift of self-acceptance and self-trust extended to others that brings about an ease in relations; and with this ease, its opposite –  dis-ease, or ill health – is denied.

Being at ease with ourselves is important and helpful in relationships; indeed, knowing the truth of ourselves opens genuine self-trust that allows an awareness and an opportunity for others to reciprocate with their own genuine self-trust. Without self-trust first, separation behavior for the parties involved will likely persist.  It is allowing the truth to be known and extended in the form of genuine self-acceptance and love that is transparency; and it is this expression that is good for our health.

Soul Talk With Cells – A Must Read!

Soul Talk With Cells – A Must Read!

As the author of the book, Soul Talk With Cells: What We Really Want Is To Play, I am asked, “How does your book relate to me and what I do?” and this is my response.

I wrote Soul Talk With Cells because there was not a book like it available anywhere and it needed to be written; health and wellness needed to be described from the heart; and I had been working in the health care industry for more than 30 years.

Having said that, I am going to be honest with you – my book is about love.  Indeed, it is a real life love story about a genuine relationship with the cells of our bodies that makes a positive difference to those tiny cells as they bring us life; and a vibrant connection with our bodies in this way is vital to maintaining our health.  The experience of this is up to you.

My book not only focuses on the cells of our bodies, it includes love for the environment, food from the earth, love for animals, ourselves, one-another, and the communication we use in exchanging our goods and services and sharing friendships with each other.  This is not a romantic love; this is a love for life itself.

We face some serious challenges in our world; and we need a different way of thinking to meet them; and as human beings, we are capable of it.  The question is – will we choose it?  Simply put, the choice is between living from a context of love or fear – and fear is the default system of the ego that is so prevalent – even to the point of seeking more fear in some cases. Even so, we need to remember that as human creations, we have the capability and the freedom to deliberately and passionately desire the opposite – which is love; we can choose it and practice it until it becomes deeply rooted – it can happen with individual and group practice and experience moving beyond fear with the only experience that goes beyond fear – love, and thereby begin living from this higher vibrating energy collectively.  With relevant knowledge and activities, willful participation, and collaborative practice, we can meet the challenges we face.

What is in this book for the reader?  It is a call to wake up to your own unique heart value and to unite and share your gifts.  If you don’t know your unique gifts (only you have them), then it is time to find out what they are and start sharing them along with all the other gifts we all share universally.

I agree that this is a new way of living together, an adventure complete with pioneering spirit and discoveries, uncharted territory and a need for focused attention.   But haven’t we been adventurers throughout history?  Heart to heart communication is essential to sustaining functional relations on Earth in 2010 and beyond.  Soul Talk With Cells is the book to read.

Joining With the Wisdom of the Earth

Joining With the Wisdom of the Earth

A relationship that joins with the wisdom of the earth empowers all living beings from plants and animals to humans; and I discuss this way of relating in my book, Soul Talk With Cells.  A profound comment on this topic that caught my attention recently was, “Human beings have misinterpreted the word dominion in defining our natural relationship with the Earth;” and I decided to consider that observation more closely.

The word dominion actually means “authority over,” and yet, how that authority is exercised is important especially whether it is administered cooperatively or taken without regard for others.  The earth is alive with life and responds with life according to how it is treated; when an authority relationship is exercised cooperatively, there is harmony; when it is taken carelessly, we get discord.  The difference is vast.

Dominion that is exercised based in knowledge well used, intelligence, or experience makes sense for the good of all; and we each qualify for one of these types of dominion at various times; and elements of the earth qualify as well due to intelligence within their own unique functions.  There is a living energy that we share on this earth, and cooperation benefits us collectively. On the other hand, dominion that is imposed without regard for the well being of other living things goes against the natural flow and becomes control and dysfunction.

Since humans are the only beings on the planet with the capacity to think about what they are thinking, we have a responsibility to all other life on earth to be aware of our thinking in order to live in a sustainable way.

Past practices of putting chemicals in our soils have not served the earth; in fact, they have altered the harmonious balance of the soil; there are chemicals polluting the air we breathe; we have “dead zones” in lakes and streams due to chemical “run-off ;” and we have miles of floating plastic debris in the ocean due to the dumping of trash.  It is a monstrously uncooperative relationship with the earth that is at odds with not only the earth’s well being but everything that lives on it.

Indeed, the more we neglect the source of our well being, the Earth, the more we move towards our own collapse; and with all of our work to improve the way we live through better technology, remembering to join with the wisdom of the earth and to heal our separation from its abundant and naturally supportive systems is not only urgent, it is critical.

Responsibility: How Does It Play?

Responsibility: How Does It Play?

Responsibility is a word that sometimes brings out hesitation, including thoughts of assigned duties and expected performance.  And the truth is that very often, that is exactly what is involved; and it can serve us well.  However, responsibility has a much deeper meaning that makes it a powerful individual asset and puts each of us in charge of our own lives.

Recently, I attended a gathering where we discussed our individual choices and the affect they have on our lives; and this conversation was familiar to me since I speak of choice repeatedly in my book, Soul Talk With Cells.  And in this group, the discussion focused on positive and negative perspectives, for example, when looking at half of a glass of water, is it half full? – which would be positive, or half empty? – which would be negative; and other positive versus negative viewpoints were mentioned like good/evil, unlimited/limited, abundance/scarcity, and many others.  Such perspectives are usually well ingrained habits; and becoming aware of them is the first step to considering new patterns.

A surprisingly enlightening exercise that we practiced was one with a large bowl of water and some pebbles; and as we sat in a circle, we tossed pebbles into the still water and watched the ripples go out to the edge and come back.  As simplistic as this seems, when put in the context of choice, the symbolic message is profound.  Indeed, it is worth spending time to notice how certain the return of similar energy is; recognition of this can be life changing; and you can discover this for yourself.

As with pebbles and water, notice that when a choice or perspective is presented into a neutral environment, vibrations go out from that choice; and then responses return back to you in similar energy   Realization of this is powerful; every choice returns the same energy in which it was sent out; so being aware of what we send out has power in our opportunity to choose.

An everyday example of this would be choosing the positive energy of the thought that “there is enough.”  Then that thought goes out into the environment and returns the life experience of “there is enough” back to you as the creator of that thought.  Whereas, if the thought generated is negative as with “there is not enough,” then that is the experience that you have returning to you in your life; and examples of this energy are endless in the universe.

Awareness of our thoughts, in the moment that we make choices, offers enormous benefit especially when we integrate, and own this reciprocal energy; for it is in owning this mutual energy that we open ourselves naturally to responsibility for our lives in the moment of each choice; and that kind of responsibility is a freedom of choice that puts us individually in charge of our lives.

Speaking from the Heart

Speaking from the Heart

Authentic self-expression can be felt; and mastering it is a desirable and valuable asset.  When individuals in a group engage with positive intentions, they have the opportunity to allow and invite speaking from the heart.

In my book, Soul Talk With Cells, I describe how participation in a community offers opportunities to become aware of new perspectives that otherwise may not come to mind. Personal choice about this participation is important, and choosing to be open to the flow of life can include a broad range of engaged beings and elements that influence the heart of our lives; examples are not only the plants, animals, and humans, but also the air, the water, and the land, and all that grows because of them.

It is critical that group discussion members appreciate the inherent value of the lives of each of the stake holders; and if the focus of the group affects the soil, animals, trees, etc, those are very much alive members (although silent).  As we all know, life is an inter-related experience; and our awareness of the unique part each player plays in our lives is essential to the whole of it; and conscious recognition of this interdependence urges acknowledgment of our oneness and individual uniqueness at the same time.

Communication in all of this is vital; and using words, pictures, body language, etc to convey messages familiar enough to resonate and be understood takes attention; and for the mutual benefit of everyone, shared awareness of the desires and values of others allows a group to openly and collectively navigate through the challenges of co-creating in a positive way together.

It is in the relationships of community that energies are exchanged that fuel our lives; and in my experience, it is where enlightening discoveries and epiphany moments occur as part of the flow, and unexpected benefits arise.  Indeed, it is in community that we learn from each other and come to know ourselves and others better; and it is here that we develop a trust for our ability to self-express authentically and value speaking from the heart.
