Is there a destiny?
Destiny, Kismet, is a strong belief in the Eastern World. Everyone when born his fate is written and his path predestined. Is this true? Do we accept this dogma? Our Western culture does not. Instead it asserts that: we create our own fate.
Where then lays the truth?
Simply that both beliefs are true.
Eastern people, in all aspects of their life, religion, philosophy and so forth, are basically introverts. They look inside themselves in search of truths and as a consequence they expect that external events will happen anyway, “whatever will be, will be,” their only choice being the way they react to them and face them.
Western people, on the other hand, are extroverts, who look into the external world, their surroundings and want to control and conquer them, being this way more aggressive and consequently they have to believe that they themselves are capable of creating their destiny.
How then can both be true?
When we are born in to this world we carry with us certain inherent qualities, we are born into certain surroundings, in particular families, with hereditary genes, in particular nations. We are born under some or other astrological signs and carry probably our own karma from previous lives. Provided of course you believe in the existence of previous lives. Therefore, in most probability, taking into consideration all those factors, a path of destiny is written. If nothing else happens, if we do nothing but follow that path, if others do not interfere, then our destiny will be as written, kismet is sure.
What happens though when we interfere in some way, if events happen that force us to take a decision or other, or even prevent us from doing just that, if we are given a choice to change our life or surrender to our fate or fight for a different outcome? Can we call that fate? Definitely not!
As I see it everyone is born with a destiny but nothing prevents him from changing that destiny on the way. In some cases with difficulty, I admit, but nevertheless there would not have been free will in man if changing his destiny was out of his reach. It is true, of course, that every time that we take a decision to change our life and we take a first step towards it, we are creating instantly another destiny, a different kismet which awaits us at the end of the road. This does not mean that we cannot always change that route too.
Many books have been published about how man creates his own destiny depending not only on what decisions he takes but what thoughts he makes or words he uses. The truth is that we, by our every action, thought or feeling create different energy waves that carry our will out there. But even that doesn’t it show that we are exercising our own free will? After all this is amongst others, what makes us human.

Is Death the End?
This is an issue that from old was a matter of philosophy, religion and the source of many discussions and arguments. Is death the end?
It seems that it is the end of the form of man and of his personality that is expressed through that body. However, the energy that comprises such body or form is only dissolved but does not disappear as energy never disappears. If you are a skeptic who believes in matter and just that then again know that the energy you once knew as such and such a person continues to exist around.
However the majority of people strongly believe that man is more than that. Most religions from time immemorial believe in eternal life, in the immortality of the soul, of a continuation of existence. This belief is not new. It is very old and it applies globally. It also presupposes the existence of another essence in man, that of the soul, which has no end and consequently no death.
What then is death?
If we accept that the soul descends from other levels to incarnate the body-matter when we are born, then death is only the door, the other door, which the soul takes when its journey in matter has completed its purpose and a new beginning for the soul. The essence of being, the soul or spirit as we call it, is now redirected to another level of energy carrying with it all impressions and experiences during the personality’s lifetime.
Where, then, does the soul goes once it goes through the door of death?
Actually, it goes nowhere. Space and time apply only to material world and this is an illusion also. Space and time is only perceived by man in his three-dimensional form. There is no such thing in other levels of existence and the soul goes nowhere. It simply changes level. It is no wonder that many extra sensitive people, with their sixth sense developed, have through out history including the present time, claimed to have seen spirits or come into contact with them.
Death in our western society is considered as a calamity. We grow up to fear death as the worst that it can befall us. But it is not. Those who die must always know that a new journey has just begun for them. Those who are left behind must say good bye to dear ones who left for a new experience. Parting with those you love is always sad but all must bear in mind that everything goes in circles, changes and never stays the same.

Parallel Worlds
Many scientists have expressed the theory of parallel worlds. Their reasoning is that ours is a three dimensional world and that in most probability there are more dimensions than just that. Some allege that there are eleven or even sixteen other dimensions of which we are not and cannot be aware about due to the limitations imposed by our three dimensional world. The theory goes on to say that these worlds are most probably parallel to ours and exist exactly where we are.
This theory excites the imagination and since its source comes from authorities in Science such as Michio Kaku is not easily dismissed, by the usual skeptics, as nonsense.
What if, however, there is another theory, similar, asserting the same but basing this assertion not on different dimensions but on different energy levels or fields?
It is an established fact that everything is simply energy. When quantum physics made their appearance in our libraries and scientists started seriously to study the whole issue they soon found out that everything we see or do not see is simply energy waves some of which by concentrating form a mass and turn themselves into matter. In other words depending on the difference of vibrations of such energy waves, different forms and, why not, different worlds come in to existence.
We cannot resist going back to Eastern Philosophies claiming that humans possess more than one body or rather their being comprises of more than one body. They claim that apart from the material body one sees and touches there are other parts of man which are invisible and untouchable, such as ethereal, astral, mental and so on. All those different bodies that are part of a man have their own different energy vibrations.
Is it not possible, then, that different energy worlds are also in existence at the same time and space (if there is such a thing), without the one actually interfering with the other due to the difference in their “wave length”? Parallel Worlds where our different bodies also exist?
Can we come into contact with them?
According to the Eastern Philosophy we can, through meditation, a practice which allows man to transcend and expand one’s consciousness, liberates one’s perception and has the effect to alter their wave length, changing the vibration of their energy. Thus one may become aware of the other co-existing worlds. Then again the suspicion arises: Is it possible that scientists and philosophers speak of the same thing using different words?
People have the tendency to dismiss what they have not been taught about. However progress was not accomplished this way. There are plenty, no, more than plenty, that are unknown and yet to be discovered.

Do Angels Exist?
The last few decades the subject of angels is often dealt with in books, films, t.v. serials. It was always a favorite subject with painters. Music has also been written about them. Generally it seems that it is a subject well liked. Seminars now everywhere inform us about every detail that concerns angels, guardian angels and how to contact them, how to hold discussions with them, how to know their names. The majority of people believe in their existence and why not since so do the greatest religions. There are, of course those skeptics who never accept anything which they do not perceive with their senses.
So, do angels really exist?
The word “angel” has its origin in to the Greek word “angelos” which means the one who carries the message, i.e the messenger. Such an Angel was in Greek mythology Hermes, the messenger of Zeus. He was also the messenger between Heaven and Zeus and the Underworld, the Kingdom of Death. In this capacity he also accompanied the souls of those who died to their last abode.
Human imagination portrayed angels with huge wings with which they presumably fly. As Christian religion also accepts their existence, icons are full of them and there is also ample mention of them in the Old and New Testament. We also meet angels in the Koran. In Hinduism we meet similar entities called devas. In many mystics’ writings we find them with all the hierarchy and numerous names. Actually it is said that there are more angels in existence than humans. This is understandable since it seems they are immortal.
It was, after all, Archangel Gabriel who offered to Virgin Mary the lily and prophesied the birth of the World’ s savior, Christ.
However the question in the Modern World arises again: Do angels exist then?
Well, it depends what exactly we mean with this question. Are there beings with wings flying about which qualify to be called as angels? I doubt it.
Angels belong to the invisible World, a non-material World, a World that definitely exists in other energy levels with different energy vibrations and waves than that of the material world. Any beings, or better energies existing in those worlds need no wings in order to move about. The existence of angels, if any, is not similar to humans. Angels have no form.
Furthermore, since from times immemorial, in different parts of the world there is a belief in their existence must not be ignored. Does this belief spring from an inner knowledge like the belief in God?
Science has up to now confirmed that the whole Universe comprises of different vibrations of energy. Even our material world is just energy. Many different vibrations and waves of energy create different forces in the universe. Some of those energies we are aware of and understand. However there is more that we neither conceive nor understand and we know nothing about. Sometimes only the result of their existence becomes known to us.
I cannot dismiss the belief of millions of people in angels lightheartedly as many do. I am not that arrogant, to dismiss what I do not see as non-existent. The only reasonable explanation I can give, basing my conclusion to both the deep rooted beliefs and to what science has so far discovered, is that angels probably exist but not in human form.
They are those energies close to human energies, easy to come in contact with, and perhaps even assimilate their force. This could explain the guardian angel myth.
How?
It seems that believing in them creates the necessary vibrations to reach them and, as is usually nowadays said, projecting our wish mentally and directing our attention to a desired result, multiplies our own force and energy and affects the energies around us and what we wish is accomplished.
In this sense, yes, angels do exist and, yes we can come into contact with them and have them join us. We must however always remember that angels have no form whatsoever and they are only energies, invisible and intangible.

Having a positive attitude to Life
Thinking positively is very important. This applies not only towards to what we expect to happen to us in the future, but to have a positive attitude to what has already happened.
Everything that occurs during our lifetime, notwithstanding how it looks at first glance, is always, in fact, beneficial. It is aiming at our development and is, therefore, positive. Everything happens for one reason only and nothing is accidental or coincidental. That reason cannot be any other than the natural tendency all life has: to evolve. Therefore, since we all accept that when we speak of evolution, we mean something positive, all events that move in this direction are to be seen in this light. Whether this is for our personal advancement or for the collective advancement of the whole race is not the material issue, because as such, always affects each person separately and the opposite is also true. We are all part of a greater “whole”. No one and nothing can ever stand out alone or detached from that “whole”, from that “Unity”!
Our religion asserts that creation has been completed. But is this true? According to the scientific theory of evolution, which means creation, this process is still in progress. Everything is still evolving and there are many instances where many new species are created and old ones die out.
We, humans, are still evolving. If we do not or will not, then we shall die out and a new species will appear that will be able to evolve. Evolution is like the water of a river that can only flow forward until it reaches the lake or the sea. Since it is an accepted fact that evolution is a positive aspect of life, then everything that leads to it is also positive. However, most of the time, we cannot understand this, and we are unable, in many instances, to accept it. But whatever happens always takes us in this direction.
When our plans fail or when we are met with obstacles, we must mot think of it as a negative event. Nor should we allow ourselves to think negatively of the occurrence of an unexpected event, like losing one’s job, an accident, a robbery, unreciprocated love, divorce, or anything else that people usually consider misfortune. Consider this first! Is it really a misfortune that knocked at our door? Have we ever considered the possibility that what has happened is a message? Perhaps it is an opportunity to learn something, to choose another way or to make us even stronger, more independent, and better able to transcend our limitations and evolve as human beings.
There is always a positive side inherent in everything that looks bad or negative at first glance. It is up to us to search for it. Knowing it is there we must find it and follow in which it is pointing us. Remember, the phrase “failure is the mother of success” was not said accidentally. If we follow this rule and every time, in all circumstances, react positively to all that happens, without wasting our time and energy in self-pity and regret, then we going in the right direction. Let us not get stuck in situations where we feel bitter and unhappy. If something unpleasant and unexpected has occurred in our lives, let us sit calmly and search for the message it really conveys. Let us not be afraid to change. I want to assure you, and I am sure you will find this out by yourselves, that if you change your attitude towards every single event and situation that occurs in life, no matter how unpleasant and painful it may seem, there is something for you to learn that will help you make progress. It is up to you to realize this. As soon as you do that, you will be freed from the bonds that have kept you stranded and have prevented the river of your life from taking its natural course.

When someone hears today, in the Western World, for the first time the word meditation, there pops into his mind the figure of a Bhuddist monk or a Hindu one, sitting cross-legged and humming the syllable of AUM.
What the modern man does not know is that meditating is a perfectly natural, normal and necessary for his well-being state, just like sleep, dreaming or waking up. Actually we all meditate although we do not do so either consciously or intentionally, in those instances when we need to solve problems, or take decisions or in many other instances such as when losing ourselves in melodies or in a wonderful sunset, or when admiring a scenery etc.
The only difference with the Eastern man is that he is entering into meditation intentionally, consciously and on a regular basis.
The next question will then be why? Why do we meditate?
Actually for one thousand reasons. The Eastern man enters into meditation in order to achieve spiritual advancement and enlightment, to reach the higher levels of consciousness and experience absolute unity with all there is, that enables someone to become a better man.
Can the same apply to us, Westerners, with quite a different mentality and way of living, who are used to face the world with an outward look and not an inward one? An Eastern man does not have to put up the stress and competition so predominant in the Western man’s life and meditation comes easier for him. Can we meditate in the same way and for the same purpose?
I doubt it! At least definitely not for the majority of us. What can we then do in order to get the benefits that meditation affords to people and adjust it to our way of life?
First of all we do not have to sit cross-legged. Eastern men sit this way because this is the way they sit anyway. That is how they sit to eat or have conversation and the rest. We can simply sit back comfortably in a chair, as we usually do, with our back straight and relax.
Do we need to spend hours and hours meditating?
Not if we do not feel like it, or if we have not enough time, which is usually the case for the busy Westerner. We may sit in meditation only twenty minutes a day. The important thing is to do so everyday. It is easy to understand why. If someone exercises his body he is doing so every day. This is what an athlete does or a mucisian exercising his music. Daily Meditation must be entered into without a miss.
What do we meditate about?
Actually one can meditate on anything. But if we wish to have some beneficial results, then we first learn to concetrate and be the masters of our mind. For the first week we can start either by following the way we breath or by watching a candle. It is not easy at first. The mind is unruly. One needs patience and determination. Do not get upset when some thoughts or noises distract you. Insist patiently and direct your mind lovingly back to the initial object of concetration. After the first week you will find that it becomes easier and easier all the time to keep your concetration for longer periods.
Next, concetrate on a higher idea, such as love, feeling your heart full of it, expanding and sending it towards every direction. It helps if you think of someone you love dearly. Feel that love inside you and outside as if you are in the big loving arms of a superior Power. Allow yourself to improvise around this great idea/feeling and know in your heart that you are loved and that you reciprocate that love.
Should you insist on this daily practice you will quite soon, i.e. about two months later, acquire many benefits, particularly if you continue. You will see your stress diminish considerably and your efficiency either in studies if you are a student, or in business increasing abt 25 per cent or more. You will definitely be better equiped to deal with any insomnia, an ailment of our times. You will also be able to deal better with everyday events, many times ugly or painful and your reaction to them will be less angry or bitter and dispair will not conquer you, as your demenour will remain calm. You will be able to face life generally in a more detached and collected way.
Generally your health will definitely improve. Eventually you may even use this method to get rid of habits such as smoking or drinking.
The more you go on practising you will realise that you are reaching higher levels of consciousness, that you become aware of truths you could not see before, and your friends will soon acknowledge that you have become a better individual.
Can anybody meditate? Is there any danger?
If a person is a reasonably balanced individual and by that I mean that he does not qualify to be called a psychopath and is not suffering from severe depression, the proposed time for concetration and meditation is definitely not harmful. There are many books on meditation and many teachers one can get advise from, but since meditating is a natural state for a man to be in, I am quite sure anyone can try.
