Having a positive attitude to Life
Thinking positively is very important. This applies not only towards to what we expect to happen to us in the future, but to have a positive attitude to what has already happened.
Everything that occurs during our lifetime, notwithstanding how it looks at first glance, is always, in fact, beneficial. It is aiming at our development and is, therefore, positive. Everything happens for one reason only and nothing is accidental or coincidental. That reason cannot be any other than the natural tendency all life has: to evolve. Therefore, since we all accept that when we speak of evolution, we mean something positive, all events that move in this direction are to be seen in this light. Whether this is for our personal advancement or for the collective advancement of the whole race is not the material issue, because as such, always affects each person separately and the opposite is also true. We are all part of a greater “whole”. No one and nothing can ever stand out alone or detached from that “whole”, from that “Unity”!
Our religion asserts that creation has been completed. But is this true? According to the scientific theory of evolution, which means creation, this process is still in progress. Everything is still evolving and there are many instances where many new species are created and old ones die out.
We, humans, are still evolving. If we do not or will not, then we shall die out and a new species will appear that will be able to evolve. Evolution is like the water of a river that can only flow forward until it reaches the lake or the sea. Since it is an accepted fact that evolution is a positive aspect of life, then everything that leads to it is also positive. However, most of the time, we cannot understand this, and we are unable, in many instances, to accept it. But whatever happens always takes us in this direction.
When our plans fail or when we are met with obstacles, we must mot think of it as a negative event. Nor should we allow ourselves to think negatively of the occurrence of an unexpected event, like losing one’s job, an accident, a robbery, unreciprocated love, divorce, or anything else that people usually consider misfortune. Consider this first! Is it really a misfortune that knocked at our door? Have we ever considered the possibility that what has happened is a message? Perhaps it is an opportunity to learn something, to choose another way or to make us even stronger, more independent, and better able to transcend our limitations and evolve as human beings.
There is always a positive side inherent in everything that looks bad or negative at first glance. It is up to us to search for it. Knowing it is there we must find it and follow in which it is pointing us. Remember, the phrase “failure is the mother of success” was not said accidentally. If we follow this rule and every time, in all circumstances, react positively to all that happens, without wasting our time and energy in self-pity and regret, then we going in the right direction. Let us not get stuck in situations where we feel bitter and unhappy. If something unpleasant and unexpected has occurred in our lives, let us sit calmly and search for the message it really conveys. Let us not be afraid to change. I want to assure you, and I am sure you will find this out by yourselves, that if you change your attitude towards every single event and situation that occurs in life, no matter how unpleasant and painful it may seem, there is something for you to learn that will help you make progress. It is up to you to realize this. As soon as you do that, you will be freed from the bonds that have kept you stranded and have prevented the river of your life from taking its natural course.
